![]() This should be nothing new to the captain of a starship. Transporter accidents happen in the Trek universe. It would have been more excusable if it had aired in the first season, but this came after episodes like "Elementary, Dear Data", "The Measure of a Man", and "Q Who." I think this belongs in the same category as "Code of Honor." The episode is racist, sexist, and condescending. Picard thinks that he is in a position to ultimately decide the future of two societies and orders them to breed with each other, each person taking multiple spouses.Perhaps not, although it's hard to see how Riker and Pulaski could have known this at the time. I've heard a some people defend this action on the grounds that the clones were not yet conscious. Riker and Pulaski kill two their clones in cold blood. And no one on the ship thinks this is inappropriate. ![]() ![]() Although their entire way of life has been destroyed, Riker seems to think this is a fine time to sleep with the daughter of the colony's leader. The Enterprise saves a group of colonists whose planet is about to be wiped about by solar activity. In addition to the issues you mentioned, there are some other really terrible aspects of this episode: Thank you so much for bringing up "Up the Long Ladder." I really think this episode does not get mentioned enough in discussions of worst Trek episodes. Think for yourself: Topics that boil down to "Should I watch.", "Will I like.", "Change my view on.", "Does anyone else.", or "Tell me what to think" are not contributing anything to the community.Ĭlick here for the full & detailed guidelines Upcoming Episodes: Date Meta: Send a modmail instead of making public posts or comments about: other users of this subreddit, the rules or moderators, the community at large or other subreddits, downvotes/upvotes.Ĩ.
